Gateway University Research Park Awarded LEED® Silver Certification

Gateway University Research Park (“Gateway”) announced today that Research Facility One, the first building constructed at Gateway’s South Campus location in Greensboro, NC, has been awarded LEED® Silver Certification established by the U.S. Green Building Council (USGBC) and verified by the Green Building Certification Institute (GBCI).   LEED is the nation's preeminent program for the design, construction and operation of high performance green buildings.  John Merrill, Gateway’s executive director stated, “We are very proud to receive this prestigious acknowledgement from the USGBC and the GBCI.  Gateway has embraced the LEED concepts for the entire South Campus development.  This recent green movement offers an extraordinary opportunity for projects like ours to respond to the spate of global challenges we currently face.  And of course, a large undertaking such as this cannot be done independently.  So we share this recognition with the team of talented partners who helped guide us through the process, specifically, BJAC Architects, Stanford White Associates, Timmons Group, Weaver Cooke Construction, and Commissioning WorCx.  Without their guidance, this would not have been possible and we share this achievement with everyone involved.” (more)
