Serving the region as an educational, cultural and economic development leader, The University of North Carolina at Greensboro offers more than 100 undergraduate majors, 64 graduate programs, 25 doctoral programsand 42 post-baccalaureate and post-master’s certificates to more than 17,500 on-campus students and over 950 others in distance-learning programs.
At UNCG, researchers are exploring the fundamentals of chronic health conditions—notably cardiovascular disease, diabetes, metabolic syndrome, neurodegenerative diseases such as Alzheimer’s, obesity, osteoporosis and cancer. Additional major research areas include child learning and development, drug design, nanobiotechnology and entrepreneurship. The Carnegie Foundation for the Advancement of Teaching has recognized UNCG with two key research and service designations: High Research Activity and Community Engagement in Curricula and Outreach & Partnerships.
The Gateway University Research Park and the Joint School of Nanoscience and Nanoengineering, two interdisciplinary ventures underway with North Carolina A&T State University, will bring
scientific research from both campuses to successful commercial application, transforming the
Triad into a world leader in research and nano-related education.
